Het Amerikaanse biotechnologiebedrijf UniQure berichtte op 24 september over hoopvolle eerste resultaten van hun fase I/II trial bij de ziekte van Huntington. Het gaat om het middel AMT-130. UniQure richt zich op het ontwikkelen van gentherapieën voor zeldzame erfelijke aandoeningen. Het bericht is hoopvol, maar er zijn de nodige kanttekeningen. De Vereniging volgt de ontwikkelingen nauwgezet.

Het programma sluit aan op de persoonlijke thuissituatie en mogelijkheden, en biedt begeleiding in het ziekteproces. Il Congresso Internazionale HDYO (Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization) è stato un evento in ideato da giovani colpiti dalla malattia di Huntington e per giovani colpiti dalla malattia di Huntington. C'erano persone provenienti veramente da tutto il mondo e ognuna di loro mi ha insegnato qualcosa che ancora oggi tengo nel cuore.

Un momento di ascolto, di confronto, di condivisione e, per molti aspetti, un momento anche di liberazione. Il webinar organizzato da Huntington Onlus, mercoledì scorso 17 settembre, dal titolo “Una malattia, diverse facce. Storie ed esperienze di persone impattate dalla malattia di Huntington”, iniziativa nell’ambito del progetto europeo Moving Forward si è trasformato in un momento di rara intensità emotiva e collettiva. Un evento di grande successo, con 77 iscritti e fino a 45 partecipanti effettivi.
